Supporting RLDatix Customers on the Frontlines of COVID-19

Healthcare professionals across the world, including RLDatix customers, are working tirelessly and selflessly on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. As our customers confront this unfolding health crisis, we are inspired by their tremendous efforts to continue to drive patient safety. Now, more than ever, we are committed to partnering with them to provide better, safer care and are honoured to play a supporting role in their ongoing efforts.  

Over the last few weeks, we have partnered with healthcare organisations and trusts across the globe to offer complimentary patient safety software at field hospitals. These field hospitals have been constructed in convention and exhibition centres to help ease capacity at local hospitals. As the fight against the current pandemic continues, we want to highlight proactive steps that have been taken by our customers across the globe to support COVID-19  patients and what we are currently doing to support these customers’ efforts at this time.   

Aiding the NHS 

NHS Nightingale  

In London, England RLDatix has provided complimentary licences to the NHS Nightingale London Hospital, and all incidents, risks and feedback are now recorded and managed in their main DatixWeb system, allowing triangulation of data and sharing of learning across departments. Housed in East London’s ExCel conference centre, the hospital was built to accommodate up to 4,000 hospital beds for COVID-19 patients. The hospital, named after Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, was constructed in just nine days with the help of 200 soldiers from the Royal Anglican Regiment and Royal Gurkha Rifles and NHS staff and contractors.  

Additionally, the new temporary NHS Nightingale Hospital Bristol, which is part of the North Bristol NHS Trust, is using an extension of its DatixWeb licence for  Risk and Incident modules. The extension will encompass additional NHS Bristol staff members who will be serving at the field hospital.  

NHS Louisa Jordan 

In Glasgow, Scotland after just two weeks of construction work, the NHS Louisa Jordan, named after World War I nurse Louisa Jordan, was built and ready to aid patients. The Louisa Jordan is part of the Greater Glasgow & Clyde NHS trust and they are using a complimentary extension of their DatixWeb licence to include additional NHS staff who are assisting with this field hospital’s efforts. Staffing for the hospital will be deployed in phases from NHS Scotland and includes individuals returning from retirement.  

Building Hope in the United States 

Project Hope  

In Boston, Massachusetts, the Boston Hope Medical Center was recently constructed inside the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. To support them, the RLDatix team quickly mobilised to configure a lite version of RL6:Risk for incident reporting. In less than 48 hours, the software was up and running. The field hospital will house 1,000 hospital beds for post-acute patients with COVID-19 and COVID-19 patients experiencing homelessness.  

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers during this unprecedented time. It’s stories like the ones above that encapsulate the healthcare community's ability to adapt to changing circumstances to best serve patients.
